June 26, 2018 – Wine Business, Both production and sales of Prosecco are increasing at home and abroad. According to Nielsen, during the 52-week period ending on March 24th of this year, Prosecco was up 16 percent over the previous year despite a tough 2017 harvest. North America consumes 21 percent of the 440 million bottles of Prosecco DOC produced, which are valued at 2.1 billion Euros, according to Prosecco DOC Consortium. The standard DOC product is made in two Northern Italian regions and nine provinces and accounts for the majority of the market and most of the Prosecco priced under $12.
